I’ve been working a lot of puzzles lately. I’ve also been really missing having a beer at a bar with my best friends and missing their smiling faces when they come to visit me at work at Stifft Station Gifts. One way I’ve found myself connecting with people without physically connecting with them is through games. I've been majorly failing at that drawing game in the House Party app (all line drawings are penises, sorry not sorry). I’ve been making my husband resent me by being a strategic asshole at Scrabble and Uno (also sorry, not sorry). And I’ve been getting a lot of therapy from working puzzles since I guess therapy is canceled too these days.

Can I take a moment to reminisce about my Bang-Up Betty birthday party from two years ago? Ok, cool. Fuse Bead Starter Kits and Free Patterns to Cure Quarantine Boredom

Running out of crafts to keep you busy while social-distancing? We’re offering a limited number of starter fuse bead kits and free patterns to give you something creative to do while we wait this out.

We’ve heard a lot of grumbles on the internet from people running out of crafts to do while self-isolating, so we decided to create these fun, easy crafting beginner kits for fuse beads so that you can have all the things you need to make cute, crafty ornaments, decor, jewelry, or whatever else your creative mind can invent. After hosting an adults-only and a kid-friendly class last year with this craft, we can confirm that it’s a whole lot of fun for kids and adults. We’ve broken up the kits we used in class last November so that you can carry on making things at home!

1 reusable sheet of ironing paper (it lasts a long time if you’re gentle with it and lay it flat between use)

Please keep in mind that this craft is intended for ages 6 and up and that only adults should ever do the ironing part. Print them at 100% size (you may still fiddle with the size some to get them to line up under the pegs. You can also just count beads). Want to take the Christmas out of them? Wear a small handful of your favorite thing around your neck with these hand-cast bronze heart charms that say either BOOBS or BUTTS and hang from an 18-inch gold filled chain that ends in a spring clasp. Bronze heart charms measure approximately 5/8 inch across and are hand-stamped letter by letter. Each piece is handmade, so letter placement and finish will be slightly different per piece. A purrrfect gift for the cat lover in your life, this hand-cast bronze cat face charm has just the right amount of sparkle with two cubic zirconia eyes and a set of adorable whiskers to boot. We’re starting the year off by inviting local Arkansas artisans to our shop to teach the basics of jewelry making, macrame, cross stitch and pressed flower arrangements.

Learn the basics of jewelry making with Arkansas jewelry designer Stacey Bowers of Bang-Up Betty in this fun charm bracelet workshop January 26.

You’ll be simply charmed by this fun, creative class where jewelry designer Stacey Bowers of Bang-Up Betty will walk you through making your very own retro-inspired charm bracelet. Stacey is bringing her big vault of funky charms for you to choose from, and she’ll demonstrate basic jewelry-making skills needed to complete a silver or gold bracelet that reflects your personality. Bonus: everyone who registers for a charm bracelet class is signed up for a drawing to win the fun Caboodle seen in the photos.

Supplies, charms, tools, festive snacks and refreshments will be provided, but if you have charms that you’ve always wanted to add to something, bring them with you. This class will be held January 26.

Get ready for spring planting with your very own handmade macrame plant hanger. Amy Darragh of Creative Cords Macrame will teach this beginning macrame class February 23.

Learn the basics of macrame and make your very own plant hanger just in time for spring planting. Amy Darragh of Creative Cords Macrame will lead this workshop. All materials will be provided, and no previous macrame experience is necessary. Participants will learn 3 basic macrame knots that will enable them to make their own plant hanger. Note: we will be mainly on our feet for this project but can definitely make accommodations. Class will be held February 23.

Learn the basics of cross stitch with Deb King, known for her snarky and cursewordy cross stitch creations. She’ll be teaching in Little Rock March 15.

Learn the basics of cross stitch with hilarious cross stitch extraordinaire Deb King, known for her outrageous and unexpected designs as “allNstitch.” Deb is coming all the way from Northwest Arkansas to Little Rock teach this class at Stifft Station Gifts March 15.

Participants will be able to choose from a couple of funny designs to work with that are good to learn the basics of cross stitch. Images shown are not those designs, but we’ll update you soon about what they are. Deb will provide all the supplies, and no previous cross stitch experience is necessary.

Erin Pierce, known for Organized Chaos Collection, will be teaching a pressed flower arrangement workshop using Arkansas flowers April 19 in Little Rock at Stifft Station Gifts.

Do you love wild-flowers and making things yourself? Join Erin Pierce, the artist behind Organized Chaos Collection, for a spring workshop where you will get to make your own pressed flower arrangement using Arkansas wild-flowers.  Erin will provide each attendee with a collection of pressed and ready flowers from her adventures around the natural state. A “floating” 8’’x10’’ frame as well as all the tools you will need come included in the class fee. You will use a variety of flowers to construct a visually attractive arrangement that will look striking in the “floating” frame (floating frames have a transparent front and back making your flowers seem to float). Erin will also provide as much or as little help with designing and gluing your arrangement that you prefer! No experience is necessary. This class will be held April 19, 2020.

The Winter Solstice is Dec. 21, but I’m celebrating a little early at Bang-Up Betty by releasing a mini-collection to match the mood of the longest night of the year.

So many people have asked me for an homage to Arkansas, so I created my own Arkansas charm in three options: woodgrain Arkansas, water wave Arkansas, and “Diamond State” Arkansas. Diamond State Arkansas has a cubic zirconia in the center as a nod to the Natural State’s other moniker.

Some people also call the Natural State the Diamond State because of its diamond mine. Either name you prefer, I think Arkansas is pretty and wanted to make something pretty to show it off.

We’re a little bit batty at Bang-Up Betty (we being the cats and I). Bat fever induced me to create this matching set of gold-filled, oblong hoop earrings with tiny, dainty bronze bat charms and tiny bronze bat necklace. It’s hard to pick a personal favorite from this collection, but this tiny bat necklace really has me smitten.
